Food 4 Thought: Henry Vega and the Artek Foundation

The Wormsongs -

The first ‘Food 4 Thought’ ICP Cluster event this semester will be on Tuesday 31st January, with a guest lecture/demo from electronic composer Henry Vega in PS3 at 1pm and a performance at 8pm in PS2 at the University of Hull Scarborough Campus.

The Wormsongs is a one-hour performance of songs for voice, electronics and visual projections, with electronic sound created by Henry Vega performed alongside vocalist Anat Spiegel and real-time visual designer Emmanuel Flores.

During this hour-long show the group performs music inspired by a revised understanding of Futurism relevant to modern movements in technology and Humanism under the guise of extropy; This theme can be described as the belief that “…mankind will systematically expand throughout the universe” provoking thoughts evident in the titles of the various songs in this set.

The entire performance with the vocalist is interactive. The music produced by the computer is performed live, following the singer. The voice is also used to control the visual projections which serve as a reactive set design to the entire performance.

Please come along to witness this spectacular collaboration.

Lecture/Demo: 1pm – 2pm in PS3 (free)
